Alopecia

Alopecia, or hair loss, could be temporary or lifelong and can affect only your scalp or the entirety of your body. It could be brought on by hereditary factors, hormonal changes, illnesses, or a natural aspect of ageing. Even though anybody can lose hair on their head, males are more likely to do so.

CAUSES:

An average person loses 50–100 hairs every day. Due to the simultaneous growth of new hair, this frequently goes unnoticed. When the hair, that has fallen out is not replaced by new hair, hair loss results.

Usually, a combination of the following reasons contributes to hair loss:

  • Family history (heredity)

  • alterations in hormone levels and illnesses

  • Drugs and dietary supplements

  • Head radiation treatment.

  • A highly stressful situation.

  • Haircuts and styling

SIGNS & SYMPTOMS:

Depending on what is causing it, there are many distinct ways that hair loss can manifest. It might affect only your scalp or the entire body, and it can start off suddenly or gradually.

Hair loss symptoms and signs might include:

Circular or uneven bald patches:

Some people have hair loss in the form of round or patchy baldness on their eyebrows, beards, or scalp. First, before your hair falls out, your skin may start to itch or hurt.

Sudden Loosing of Hairs:

A physical or mental trauma might result in the hair falling out suddenly. When brushing or shampooing your hair, or even with a light tug, handfuls of hair might fall out. This sort of transient hair loss typically results in generalized thinning.

Full-body hair loss:

It can be a side effect of several diseases and medical procedures, including chemotherapy for cancer. Normally, the hair grows back.

Patches all over the scalp:

scaling that appears in large patches all over the scalp. This is a ringworm symptom. Broken hair, redness, swelling, and occasionally leaking may also be present.

Risk factors:

Your chance of losing your hair can be influenced by a variety of things, such as:

  • Specific medical problems including lupus and diabetes

  • A mother's or father's side family history of baldness

  • A significant weight loss

  • Poor diet

  • Stress

  • Age

Avoid any unwelcoming circumstances and consult a skin specialist if you have these symptoms.
